Happy New Year

I sit here with a belly full of cookie dough and punch, and so thankful for my little family and our home. As I lay in bed at night I go over the days events and thank God for my husband, the boys, the house, the dogs, our health, hubby’s job and the excitement at what the future may hold. Thanks to all of you who follow along on my little camera’s journey, and who’ve already shown interest in our simple life. I so appreciate you! As this new year comes, if we’re ready or not, I challenge you….JUMP. Jump into the challenge, Jump into the day, Jump away from the bad and towards the good. Be fearless, be brave, make a difference. Love hard, forgive much, and always focus on the good.

Be brave like Sam and Go For It!! Happy New Year!

My New Years Resolutions are these:

Floss my teeth every night

Drink 8 cups of water a day

Wake up with the sun

What are your resolutions?

Black and White with my face on

I got some grief over on Facebook when I posted my B&W self portrait, I was angry, plain, bla bla bla (Okay most of that is nasty self talk but hey). So I give you a new B&W self portrait, with my “face” on. That’s southern girl speak for “I have makeup on”.

So far I am really preferring how my camera does B&W over how my editing does it.

Today was warmer and sunny and we got out back to play and shoot a bit. I wanted to explore poses for someone like me (size 16 curvy) and see what was working, and what wasn’t! I think these turned out good. Obviously Sammy shot all the ones I was in, but I had set up and directed everything. The little boys got to direct ME in their individual shots. I love how their direction really brought out their personality.  Do you ever use the people around you to try something new?  Do you ever ask your subjects to tell YOU what they want?
