Aside

Remember when “flare” was all the rage a minute ago? 🙂 It seems my iPhone handed down to me from my dearly departed dad, is really good at getting flare. It does weird red blobs with the right or wrong kind of sun, depending on your perspective of flare. Here’s a collection of my favorite. I didn’t add any flare to any of these post production. The most I ever do post is to crop and adjust the contrast and to adjust the tilt because I’m the WORST at getting things lopsided.

Summer bucket list

Standard

I want to write up a summer bucket list of things to do but I’m drawing a complete blank. Our summer is usually pretty relaxed; time spent at the water or in the hammock, reading books and journaling, working on art projects and sewing. I guess I’m having trouble with specific goals. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. How do you organize and plan your summer? Are you like us and you just blow where the wind takes you?

Three hours spent on a hammock

Video

I ordered a hammock that arrived yesterday afternoon. I immediately put it up and laid in it. After about two hours  Max brought out the camera and iphone and we went to snapping. I told him I was going for some abstract images  as well as some fun sun images. Towards Sunset Noah and Sam came out and were watching the sun go down. By the end of it all I had spent time with each of the boys, and alone time with God. I stayed up late last night and put it all together into an imovie.  I hope you enjoy it!

iphone glimpse into our days

Standard

Looks like a little tropical storm is coming our way and from what I hear we may lose power for a bit. I’m so glad we have a gas stove but would trade that for city water. I guess the well doesn’t pump without power. Boo. Anywhoo, Today was a first. We swam in the murky waters and Jack got a jelly fish sting. Max peed on it and sure enough it took the sting out. I later heard Max and Sam saying to one another “don’t pee all your pee out, save some in case I get stung!”. Silly boys. We are enjoying the new house, I am enjoying the kitchen and I guess this storm will give me enough NON outside time to make a dent in the unpacking. The little boys room only has two more boxes which I’m threatening to deal with tonight. Then it’s just Noah’s room, our bedroom and the living room. We want Scott’s folks to come soon (they were going to come this weekend but then ANDREA decided to come instead) and need to get the house squared away before all the hostessing happens.

My mom gave me my dads old Iphone, and I’ve bought a lifeproof case for it, and have been using it a lot for pictures. I really enjoy the iPhone and how handy it is to not have to carry my camera with me. I also love now that I have the life proof that I can take it into the water with me. Fun in the sun! Here are pictures from my phone from this week. I included little captions to explain what’s going on.

A few broken conch shells in the shallow water. Wasn't it so clear? I love it when it's like this. When it's murky I don't like the boys to swim.

That’s all folks. If I disappear for awhile you will know my power is out. It looks like the storm will be driving straight up the middle of the Eastern Shore. Yay us. We’ve dealt with storms before, just never ON the water. It will be a first. Should be fun!

Eastern Shore, VA. Welcome Home!

Video

This is a compilation of the pictures (mostly iphone pics) taken since we’ve been here on the eastern shore. This is also my first attempt at an iMovie. I hope you like it! The song is “Just one drop” by PLUMB. I personally dislike when songs are cut off so I let it play itself out once the sunset picture shows.
